Mystique
| Intervet - Ehrlichia
Risiticii Bacterin - Potomac Horse Fever is an ehrlichial colitis
caused by Ehrlichia risticii. First recognized in 1979 in Maryland
and now has been confirmed in over 40 states and Canada. Most cases
are seen primarily from April through October. Mystique is a
combination of inactivated, purified, adjuvented Ehrlichia risticii
bacterin used to vaccinate healthy equines as an aid in the
prevention of Potomac Horse Fever. For primary immunization,
aseptically inject 1 cc intramuscularly in horses 3 months of age or
older. Repeat the dose in 3 to 4 weeks. A 1 cc booster dose should
be administered annually and at any time epidemic conditions exist
and exposure is imminent.
